For 70 years, the Richard E. Rudolph, Jr. Preschool at Keneseth Israel has been teaching, guiding, shaping, and loving generations of children and families in the Elkins Park community. As a synagogue-based preschool, we are proud to provide exceptional early childhood education rooted in both Judaic and secular values, creating a foundation for lifelong learning, confidence, and kindness.
Our mission is to nurture each child’s emotional, social, cognitive, and physical development in a safe, joyful, and respectful environment. We believe that children learn best through meaningful relationships, hands-on experiences, and opportunities to explore the world around them. Every child who enters our doors is celebrated for their individuality and encouraged to develop a strong sense of self-esteem, curiosity, and belonging.
At the heart of our school is a vibrant Jewish community that embraces families of all backgrounds. Through meaningful connections with our teachers, families, clergy, and synagogue community, children learn the values that have guided Jewish life for generations. Concepts such as Tikkun Olam (Repairing the World), Chesed (Loving Kindness), respect, responsibility, and community become part of everyday life, helping to shape compassionate and thoughtful future citizens.
The Richard E. Rudolph, Jr. Preschool is more than a school—it is a community. One of our most cherished goals is fostering meaningful partnerships among families, teachers, and Rabbinic staff. Parents and caregivers are encouraged to take an active role in school life through classroom participation, special events, our Parent Teacher Organization, book clubs, HaMotzi gatherings, holiday celebrations, volunteer opportunities, and much more. Together, we create a warm and supportive environment where lasting friendships and lifelong connections are formed.
As a Pennsylvania State licensed preschool serving children from infancy through Pre-Kindergarten, we are committed to providing developmentally appropriate, child-centered education. Our experienced and dedicated teachers understand the importance of meeting Pennsylvania Early Learning Standards while also recognizing that every child learns differently. By honoring individual interests, strengths, and learning styles, we create classrooms where children feel safe, confident, loved, and inspired to learn.
